Windows ME build 2358.0 is the third developer release of Windows ME. It was leaked to BetaArchive by Overdoze on 20 March 2019.[1] This build was also referenced in "The Road to Gold: The development of Windows Me" at Paul Thurrott's SuperSite for Windows.[2]

Features

  • Activity Centers: Help Center, Photo Center, Music Center, Start Page.[3] For Activity Centers to work, add a value called MilExtraDirs to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion. Then, re-register webvw.dll. The Activity Centers intend to use the Trebuchet MS, Franklin Gothic Heavy, and Franklin Gothic Book fonts, but end up falling back because they are not installed with the build.[4]
  • Windows Neptune: Two files with product name "Microsoft(R) Neptune (TM) Operating System" version 5.50.5048.1[1]
  • Out-of-Box Experience[5]
  • System Restore and System File Protection: Enable by going to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\_VxDMon and change SystemRestore and/or SystemFileProtection from N to Y,[4] then reboot.
