Windows 8 build 7989 (with a buildtag of 6.2.7989.0.winmain.110421-1825) is a Milestone 3 build of Windows 8. This build was leaked on June 18, 2011 in the x64 architecture, and on February 8, 2020 as an x86 debug build.

Bugs

User Tile

The User Tile may be buggy until you patch twinui.dll.

DWM

DWM may become unstable when switching between high contrast themes multiple times every couple seconds.

EFI

The x64 version of this build doesn't support hardware with EFI, due to the Windows Preinstallation Environment being from an x86 Windows 7 RTM build. To attempt to solve this issue, copy the build's install.wim into an x64 Windows 7 Preinstallation Environment, or deply the image using DISM. This patch however does not work for all UEFI configurations.

Start screen

After enabling redpill, the start screen may appear empty.
There is an option of "uninstalling" the desktop from the start screen. However, pressing uninstall does nothing.

-DWM is very buggy and unstable in this build. When switching to a High Contrast theme, DWM still runs, with glass, but as you change to different High Contrast themes every few seconds, DWM slowly deteriorates until it stops working unless the user restarts the computer.
