Development Release #2 is a pre-release build of Windows 1.0, compiled sometime in June 1984.

Developer Release 2 is an early pre-release build of Microsoft Windows 1.0, demonstrated on the Tandy 2000 personal computer. It is the second build from the Developer Release line.

Like Developer Release 1, this build was launched from a file called
DEMO.BAT
and was intended to be run from a single floppy disk. This loaded a copy of Windows with several sample applications which could easily be loaded from there.

Note that whereas versions of Windows for the IBM PC and compatibles generally used the
.EXE
file extension for executable program files, this demonstration instead used the
.MOD
extension for most executable files.
