This early pre-release version of Microsoft Windows 1.0 was shipped to testers in January 1985.

Machine requirements

This release is designed for users of IBM and COMPAQ personal computers running Microsoft MS-DOS or IBM DOS, with a graphical display adapter (CGA and Hercules adapters supported), a floppy disk drive, and a hard disk drive.

PCem is recommended for use with this version, hypervisors such as Virtual PC and VirtualBox will not work.
