Mail flow stops from Lotus Notes to Exchange Server 2003 after you apply hotfix 829989

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. A Lotus Notes user exchanges e-mail with a user in a Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 organization. The e-mail is routed through Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Connector for Lotus Notes. The e-mail thread includes history information. After about five or six replies on this e-mail thread, the e-mail message develops text formatting issues. Therefore, the e-mail message becomes unreadable.

You then apply the hotfix for this problem that is provided in the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

829989 A message that is sent repeatedly through Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes develops text formatting problems


After you do this, mail flow stops from Lotus Notes to Exchange Server, and the Lsntsmex.exe process stops responding.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, you must download and then install the latest version of Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Connector for Lotus Notes. The following file is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center:

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help prevent any unauthorized changes to the file.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Connector for Lotus Notes version 06.05.7830.
