SYMPTOMS

When a message is sent repeatedly through Microsoft Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes, the message may develop text formatting problems. Every time that the message is sent, the word-wrap and the left-indent formatting may increase, until the message becomes almost unreadable.

RESOLUTION

Service pack information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. MORE INFORMATION

After you install the hotfix, you must add a new entry in the ..Exchsrvr\Bin\Exchconn.ini file. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Stop the Exchange Notes Connector.
  2. Open the Exchconn.ini file in Notepad, and then locate the [LME-NOTES] section.
  3. Add the following entry in the [LME-NOTES] section of the Exchconn.ini file:

    RESIZECOLUMN=1
    FIRSTCOLUMNREDUCTION=100
    INDENTATIONREDUCTION=100

  4. After you make the change, save the Exchconn.ini file, and then restart the Exchange Notes Connector.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2.
