SYMPTOMS
When you run a version of Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 Operator Console that has the Windows DNS Server Management Pack installed, you may receive the following error message.
Note This message is reported by Microsoft Windows 2000-based Domain Name System (DNS) servers and by Windows Server 2003-based DNS servers.
CAUSE
This problem may occur because of a problem in an earlier version of the DNS provider DNSProv.dll.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, install the hotfix that is mentioned in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
914831 The Wmiprvse.exe process stops unexpectedly, and event ID 1000 is logged in the Application log in Windows Server 2003
This hotfix contains an updated version of DNSProv.dll.
Note If you still experience the error that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section after you update DNSProv.dll to the latest version, examine the event log on the computer to determine whether other DNS problems are logged.
