SYMPTOMS

On your Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer that is running Microsoft Windows Services for UNIX, the following event is logged every 10 minutes to the system event log: Type: Information
Event ID: 1036
Source: NfsSvr
Description:
Microsoft Server For NFS Activity Log

Operation: Mount
Result: Failure
Client: IP_Address
File Name: /sysvol/

CAUSE

This problem may occur after you install the Microsoft security update MS04-011. Security update MS04-011 contains a regression from an earlier hotfix that is described in the Microsoft Knowledge Base article 827684. After you install MS04-011, the computer tries to mount the Sysvol folder every 10 minutes. If the Windows 2000-based computer is not a domain controller, the mount does not work. The Sysvol folder only exists on domain controllers.
