Issues that are fixed by the hotfix package

The following issue is fixed in this hotfix package but was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

  • Digital signatures are not retained after an AutoRecover operation occurs

The following problem may occur after you configure the AutoRecover feature in Visio 2002. If an AutoRecover operation occurs, and then you save a Visio 2002 drawing that contains a digitally-signed macro, you may receive the following error message:

You have modified a signed project. You do not have the correct key to sign this project. The signature will be discarded

The digital signature is discarded. If the macro security setting in Visio 2002 is set to High, and then you close and open the drawing, you receive the following error message:

Macros in this document are disabled. Please refer to the online help or documentation of the host application to determine how to enable macros

This issue occurs if all the following conditions are true:

    • You open a drawing that contains a digitally-signed macro.
    • You use the Save As command to save the drawing with a different file name.
    • You modify the drawing that you saved with a different file name.

In this situation, the digital signature of the macro is discarded when the AutoRecover operation occurs after you modify the drawing. If you save the drawing, you receive the error message described earlier in this article.
