MORE INFORMATION

Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 fixes the following problems.

Only update installations are supported for Single-Image Deployment

You can use the Tablet PC Single-Image Deployment feature to migrate to Windows XP Tablet PC Edition from a slipstreamed or integrated image of Windows XP Professional. When you do this, the operating system version information is not set correctly. Because of this, the branding information does not change to Windows XP Tablet PC Edition. Therefore, programs do not work if they require that the GetSystemMetrics function returns Tablet PC as the operating system version. This problem may cause some programs not to work or may prevent programs from installing. This problem occurs when you add logic to the Sysprep.inf, Cmdlines.txt, and Tablet.txt files to migrate the image to Windows XP Tablet PC Edition after the first startup.

User agent string information is not available to identify Tablet PC clients

A custom ASP or HTTP Web program cannot determine the version of Microsoft Internet Explorer that is running on a Tablet PC-based client.

Pen does not work after Login keyboard appears

After the Tablet PC Login keyboard appears, the pen does not work. Therefore, you cannot log on to your Windows XP Tablet PC Edition-based computer by using the Login keyboard. This problem may only occur occasionally. For additional information about this problem, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

PowerPoint quits unexpectedly after a slide show annotation

When you use the pen in Microsoft PowerPoint 2002 or later versions, your slide show may quit unexpectedly (crash). Typically, this problem occurs when you use the pen to annotate your slide show, or when you move between the next and previous slides.

Access violation occurs when you use the pen

When you use the pen with certain programs, an access violation may occur, and the program may quit unexpectedly.

Programs quit unexpectedly when you use the pen

When you use the pen with a program such as a Microsoft Office program or MSN Messenger, the program may occasionally quit unexpectedly. This problem may occur when you move the pen or the pointer over a window when the program is shutting down.

Programs may work erratically or quit unexpectedly

Programs may work erratically or may quit unexpectedly on a computer that is running Windows XP Tablet PC Edition. This problem occurs because the Tablet PC Input Panel component (Tiptsf.dll) is not unloaded correctly in certain scenarios. When you open the computer Properties in Active Directory Users and Computers, and then click the Operating System tab, Windows XP Professional appears in the Name box.

Pen does not work after Tablet PC resumes from hibernation

After you resume your Windows XP Tablet PC Edition-based computer from hibernation, the pen does not work.
