SYMPTOMS
After you start a Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC-based computer, your tablet pen may not function when the Log On to Windows dialog box or the Welcome screen appears.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because of a race condition where the Human Interface Device (HID) driver causes Windows to search for all HID devices before the Plug and Play service has started. Because Plug and Play has not started, the search for HID devices is unsuccessful, and this prevents the tablet pen from functioning in the Log On to Windows dialog box or at the Welcome screen.
