APPLIES TO
- Microsoft Server Appliance Kit 2.01
SYMPTOMS
The installer script for Windows Powered Network-Attached Storage 2.01 Service Pack 1 detects whether Microsoft Services for UNIX is installed on the Network-Attached Storage computer. If Services for UNIX Network File System (NFS) is installed, the Service Pack 1 installer requires that the correct version of NFS be installed. The Service Pack 1 installer incorrectly assumes that, if the hotfix from Microsoft Knowledge Base article 327473 is not installed, the version of NFS is incorrect. To correct this logic in the installer, Service Pack 1a was released.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the versioning schema in Services for UNIX prevented the service pack installer from correctly detecting the correct version of Services for UNIX.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, install Service Pack 1a for Windows Powered Network-Attached Storage 2.01.
MORE INFORMATION
Other than the two following changes, the updates in Service Pack 1a are the same as the updates that are included in Service Pack 1:
- Update the installer script to correctly detect the correct version of NFS.
- Add the update that is included in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
832250 Windows Management Instrumentation service terminates with event ID 7031
