RalliSport Challenge (PC): Network Ports That Are Required for Multiplayer Game

Article ID: 829474

Article Last Modified on 10/16/2003

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft RalliSport Challenge PC

SUMMARY

This article describes the ports that must be open to play Microsoft RalliSport Challenge (PC) as a multiplayer game through a firewall, a proxy server, a router, Network Address Translation (NAT), or Internet Connection Sharing.

MORE INFORMATION

RalliSport Challenge (PC) requires that the following ports are open to play multiplayer games:

  • Hosting 17500 - 17501 User Datagram Protocol (UDP)
  • Joining 1024 - 5000 Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)

Note RalliSport Challenge's Lobbyserver program uses only the main connection UDP port. The default main connection UDP port is 17500, but can be changed in the Server.cfg file.

Any Gameserver program that is started will use the next available UDP port above the main connection port number. For example, if the main port 17500, the Lobbyserver and Gamerserver programs would use the following ports:

  • lobbyserver.exe port = 17500
  • gameserver.exe #1 port = 17501
  • gameserver.exe #2 port = 17502
  • gameserver.exe #3 port = 17503
  • gameserver.exe #4 port = 17504

Note If you want to open more than one Gameserver program, additional ports must be open to support those programs. Typically you only need a single Gameserver program.
