MORE INFORMATION

Determine Your IP Address

Before you can host a race over the Internet, you must give your IP address to your opponents so they can connect to your host computer. To determine your computer IP address:

  1. Connect to the Internet.
  2. Click Start, and then click Run.
  3. Do one of the following:

Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Windows 2000

    1. In the Open box, type cmd, and then press ENTER.
    2. At the command prompt, type ipconfig, and then press ENTER.

Microsoft Windows 98 and Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition

    1. In the Open box, type command, and then press ENTER.
    2. At the command prompt, type winipcfg, and then press ENTER.
  4. Write down your IP address, and then click OK.
  5. Communicate your IP address to the people against whom you want to race.

NOTE: This IP address may change the next time you connect to the Internet.

Select a Connection Rate For Multiplayer Game Sessions

For the best multiplayer game experience, set your online connection speed to the appropriate setting before a multiplayer game:

  1. On the Game menu, click Multiplayer.
  2. Click Host or Join.
  3. Click the setting you want to use in the Rate box, and then click Back.

Host on a 56 KBps or Dial-Up Modem

Only two players in total can be in a game that is hosted by a computer that connects with a 56 KBps modem. This is one host and one guest. To start a multiplayer game with more than two players, the host must connect through a broadband connection such as DSL or cable or a Local Area Network (LAN).

Host on an Internet Connection Sharing Connection

When you try to join a game that is hosted on an Internet Connection Sharing connection, you or other users may not be able to connect to the host. To work around this issue, the host can disable Internet Connection Sharing and host with a direct connection to the Internet.

Hosting Behind a Hardware Network Address Translation Device

When the host tries to host a game behind a hardware Network Address Translation device, clients may not be able to connect to the server. To work around this issue, the host can disable the Network Address Translation device, and then host the game with a direct connection to the Internet.

Minimize During a Multiplayer Game Session

When you press ALT+TAB to minimize the game and do not restore the game for more than thirty seconds during a multiplayer session, you may be disconnected from the session.

Prevent Other Users From Creating New Game Rooms on Your Host Server

To prevent others from creating game rooms on your server, change the MaxGames value to "1" in the Server.cfg file. To do this, open the Server.cfg file in a text editor such as Notepad. The Server.cfg file is located in the Server folder in your RalliSport Challenge (PC) installation folder.

Special and International Characters in Chat

In multiplayer chat, some international or special characters may appear only as pipe characters (|) or may not appear at all.

Dual Network Adapter Issues

If you have a computer with two or more network adapters, you may not be able to locate local servers. To resolve this issue, manually type the URL of the game you want to join, or disable your secondary network adapter before you try to search for local servers.
