SYMPTOMS

A USB mouse device connected to an USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller Interface (EHCI) host controller does not respond after a Windows 2000-based computer restarts.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the USBport.sys driver incorrectly identifies the USB EHCI host controller as a Standard Enhanced PCI to USB host controller and Windows 2000 cannot detect the USB mouse.
