SUMMARY
Microsoft has released updates to the Microsoft Office XP Input Method Editor (IME) and the Microsoft Office XP Multilingual User Interface (MUI) Pack. These updates offer the highest levels of stability and security available for these components. These updates help ensure compatibility between the Office XP Input Method Editor and Microsoft Windows 2003 Server. The Office XP Input Method Editor Update: KB816137 and the Office XP Input Method Editor Update: KB816137 for Multilingual User Interface Pack are part of Microsoft’s continued effort to provide the latest product updates to customers.
The updates described in this article apply to the following languages:

Important Before you install these updates, make sure that the following requirements have been met:

Before you install these updates, you must install Windows Installer 2.0 or later. For additional information about this requirement, see the "Windows Installer Update Requirements" section of this article. - Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 2 (SP-2)
Before you install this update, install Office XP SP-2.

Client Updates
If you installed Microsoft Office XP from a CD-ROM, you have the following two options:
- Use the Microsoft Office Product Updates Web site to automatically install all the latest updates that include all available service packs and public updates.
-or-
- Install only the updates described in this article by following the steps described later in this article.
Note Microsoft recommends that you install the client update by using the Office Product Updates Web site. The Office Product Updates Web site detects your particular installation of Microsoft Office and prompts you to install exactly what you must have to make sure that your Office installation is completely up-to-date.
Office Product Updates Web Site
To have the Office Product Updates Web site detect the required updates that you must install on your computer, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
After detection is complete, you receive a list of recommended updates for your approval. Click Start Installation to complete the process.
Install Only the Office XP Input Method Editor Update: KB816137 or the Office XP Input Method Editor Update: KB816137 for Multilingual User Interface Pack
Follow these steps to install the client version of the Office XP Input Method Editor Update: KB816137:
- Visit one of the following Microsoft Web sites:

- Click Save to save the update's installation file to the selected folder.
- In Windows Explorer, double-click the update's installation file (for example, if you are downloading the Chinese Traditional version of the update, double-click officexp-kb816137-client-cht.exe.)
- If you are prompted to install the update, click Yes.
- Click Yes to accept the License Agreement.
- Insert your Office XP CD-ROM when you are prompted to do so, and then click OK.
- When you receive a message that indicates the installation was successful, click OK.
Note After you install the update, you cannot remove it. To revert to an installation before the update was installed, you must remove Microsoft Office XP Multilingual User Interface Pack, and then re-install it.
Follow these steps to install the client version of the Office XP Input Method Editor Update: KB816137 for Multilingual User Interface Pack:

Administrative Updates
If you installed your Office XP product from a server location, the server administrator must update the server location with the administrative update and deploy that update to your computer.
If you are the server administrator, follow these steps to download and install the administrative version of the Office XP Input Method Editor Update: KB816137:

To determine the version of the update that is installed on your computer, follow these steps.
Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
- Click Start, and then click Search.
- In the left pane of the Search Results window, click All files and folders under Search Companion.
- In the All or part of the file name box, type the IME file name listed in the previously listed tables (for example, type Mstcipha.ime), and then click Search.
- In the list of files, right-click the IME file name that you searched for in step 3 (for example, right-click Mstcipha.ime), and then click Properties.
- View the Version tab, determine the version of the IME that is installed on your computer.
Note If either the Office XP Input Method Editor Update: KB816137 or Office XP Input Method Editor Update: KB816137 for Multilingual User Interface Pack are already installed on your computer, you receive the following error message when you try to install the updates:
Windows Installer Update Requirements

When you are logged on to a Windows Terminal Server Client computer without administrator rights, Hangul Hanja conversion will not work in the Input Method Editor.
