SYMPTOMS

When you try to remove Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server, you may receive the following error message:

Setup cannot continue. This domain does not include an installation of Exchange 2000 Server.

If you then click OK, and then click Finish, you may receive the following error message:

Fatal error during installation.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you remove Exchange 2000 Server from the domain before you remove Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem:

  1. Reinstall Exchange 2000 Server.

    NOTE: In some cases, you may have to manually remove the previous Exchange 2000 installation before you can successfully reinstall Exchange 2000 Server.   2. If you manually removed Exchange 2000 Server before you reinstall it, you do not have to perform this step, and you can go to step 3. Otherwise, update the Exchange installation to the same service pack-level as that of the previous installation.
  3. Remove Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server:
    1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add/Remove Programs.
    2. In the list of installed programs, click Microsoft Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server, and then click Change.

      NOTE: The Remove button may be unavailable.
    3. Click Next, click Remove, click Next, click Remove, and then click Finish when the Installation Wizard completes the removal of the program.

      NOTE: If the program is still listed in the Add/Remove Programs dialog box, press F5 to refresh the display.
  4. Remove Exchange 2000 Server.
