SUMMARY

This article describes the updates that are included with Small Business Server (SBS) 2000 Service Pack 1a (SP1a). SBS 2000 SP1a contains a collection of product support and security updates that have been gathered since the release of SBS 2000 in April 2001. SBS 2000 SP1a contains updated operating system and program service packs. The following service packs and program updates are installed as part of SP1a Setup:

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server Service Pack 4 (SP4)
  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 3 (SP3)
  • Microsoft Outlook 2002

SBS 2000 SP1a also contains additional service packs on CD-ROM installations.

Note The following service packs are not installed during Setup, but are included on the SP1a CD-ROM.

  • Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server SP1
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 3a (SP3a)

Important The Web download of SBS 2000 SP1a does not include Outlook 2002, ISA Server SP1 or SQL Server 2000 SP3a. To obtain Outlook 2002, ISA Server SP1, and SQL Server 2000 SP3a, visit the following Microsoft Web site to order the media:

  • 305138 "Out of License" error messages in SBS 2000 event logs

  • 318332 "System Error 1230" error message when you browse the network

  • In Internet Information Services 5.0 (IIS), SP1a disables the AspEnableParentPaths setting on the default Web site and Administration Web site. This setting was changed for security purposes.
  • Set the following value in the registry to "1" from the default of "0" for security reasons:

  • The following value is added in the registry with a value of "1" to correct an issue with accessing network resources on a domain controller that is configured to allow Routing and Remote Access connections.

  • 303741 Users may not receive messages from connector for POP3 mailboxes

  • The Retrieve Now button is removed from the POP3 Connector properties. As an alternative to this button, start Small Business Server Personal Console, click E-mail, and then click Synchronize Mail.
  • A Security Best Practices link is included in the To Do List when SBS 2000 SP1 is installed.

    Note: This link is not available in the Web download version of SP1a. However, the information is still included in the online guide.
  • Outlook 2002 and Windows 2000 SP4 are installed into the ClientApps5 folder, which allows these programs to be installed by means of Client Setup.
  • The version in the About page in the Small Business Server Administrator Console is updated to display "2000 with Service Pack 1a."
