SUMMARY
Microsoft has released an update to Microsoft Office 2000 Clip Gallery. This update includes a security update and other fixes.

How to Download and Install the Update
Client Update
If you installed Microsoft Office 2000 from a CD-ROM, follow these steps to download and install the client update:
- Visit the following Microsoft Web site:
- Click Download Now. Click Save this program to disk, and then click OK.
- Click Save to save the Cag0901.exe file to the selected folder.
- In Windows Explorer, double-click Cag0901.exe.
- If you are prompted to install the update, click Yes.
- Click Yes to accept the License Agreement.
- Insert your Office 2000 CD-ROM when you are prompted to do so, and then click OK.
- When you receive a message that indicates the installation was successful, click OK.
NOTE: After you install the public update, you cannot remove it.
Administrative Update
If you installed Microsoft Office 2000 from a server location, the server administrator must update the server location with the administrative public update and deploy that update to your computer.
If you are the server administrator, follow these steps to download the administrative update:
- Visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/office2000/Patch/cag0901/W982KMeXP/EN-US/cag0901a.exe
- Download the file to your desktop.
- In Windows Explorer, double-click the Cag0901a.exe file.
- Click Yes to accept the License Agreement.
- In the Please type the location where you want to place the extracted files box, type C:\cag0901a, and then click OK.
- Click Yes when you are prompted to create the folder.
- Click Start and then click Run. Type the following command in the Open box:
[start] msiexec /p [path\name of update MSP file] /a [path\name of MSI file] SHORTFILENAMES=TRUE /qb /L*v [path\name of log file]
- To deploy the update to the client workstations, click Start and then click Run. Type the following command in the Open box:
[start] msiexec /i [path to updated .msi file on the administrative image] REINSTALL=[list of features] REINSTALLMODE=vomus /q

Office 2000 Clip Gallery Update June 19th 2002 updates the version of Microsoft Clip Gallery 5.0 to version 5.5.01.0522. To determine the version of Clip Gallery installed on your computer, follow these steps:
- Search for the Artgalry.exe file.
- Right-click the Artgalry.exe file, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu.
- On the Version tab, view the file version.

This update prevents a malicious clip that is downloaded from being repeatedly read by Clip Gallery 5.0 and prevents the Clip Gallery file (.mmc) from expanding to the size of the available disk space.
CG5: Clip Gallery Contains Graphics Code from Previous Version
This update removes graphics code that was left from a previous version and that does not affect the operation of Microsoft Clip Gallery 5.0.
CG5: Downloaded Clip File Opens Automatically
When you download a clip file (.cil) by using Microsoft Internet Explorer, the clip is automatically opened. This update prevents the clip file from being opened automatically. Instead, you are prompted to open or save the clip file when you download a clip file.
