SYMPTOMS

When you install Microsoft Office 2000, Microsoft Office XP, or Microsoft Works Suite, you may receive one of the following error messages:

Error 1304. Error writing to the file File name and location. Verify that you have access to that directory.

Error 1305. Error Reading from File: File name and Location. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

Note The only item that varies in these error messages is the file name. This error message can list any of several file names.

CAUSE

You receive one of these error messages when there is a configuration problem with your CD-ROM drive or a problem with the CD-ROM media itself.

RESOLUTION
