SYMPTOMS

When you use the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) to transmit a document to an Open Destination messaging port in BizTalk Server, the subject of the resultant e-mail message is the Interchange tracking ID and cannot be modified.

RESOLUTION

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000 Service Pack 1.

When you use SMTP with a BizTalk Server messaging port, the default subject property is changed from %tracking_id% to %document_name%-%tracking_id%. This provides the flexibility to use your document definition name as the subject of the resultant e-mail message.
