SYMPTOMS
After you removed Microsoft Exchange 2000 by using either BackOffice Server 2000 or Small Business Server 2000 Setup, you may observe the following behavior:
- Exchange 2000 is removed from the Start menu.
- When you reinstall either BackOffice Server 2000 or Small Business Server 2000, the Exchange folder structure is still present, for example, the
Drive letter:\Program files\Exchsrvr folder. When you upgrade your computer from BackOffice Server version 4.5, the folder is:Drive letter:\Exchsrvr. - The registry entries for Exchange are still present.
- If Exchange 2000 had been installed after the installation of either BackOffice Server 2000 or Small Business Server 2000, and you used the \exchsrvr60\setup\i386\setup.exe command from CD-ROM #3 (that is included with BackOffice Server 2000 and Small Business Server), Exchange 2000 is still listed in the Add/Remove Programs tool.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, manually remove Exchange 2000 by following the procedure outlined in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
