FIX: Replication Agents Print Logon Password When You Use the Output Parameter

Article ID: 276595

Article Last Modified on 3/14/2006

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 Standard Edition

This article was previously published under Q276595

BUG #: 57468 (SQLBUG_70)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the SQL Server Authentication connection method for the replication agent, the output parameter also prints the user name and password for the replication connection in the output text file. For example, you may see the following text in the output text file:

Subscriber security mode: 0, login name: sa, password: password.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use Windows NT Authentication connection instead of SQL Authentication for the particular replication agent. To connect using Windows NT Authentication, set the replication parameters as follows:

  • DistributorSecurityMode 1
  • SubscriberSecurityMode 1
  • PublisherSecurityMode 1

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server 7.0. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 3 for Microsoft SQL Server 7.0. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
