SYMPTOMS

When you try to find online Help on the English Word 6.0/95 Document option (on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the General tab), you receive the following message:

No Help topic is associated with this item.


To find Help for an option on the General tab, do one of the following:

  • On the title bar of the Options dialog box, click Help (the question mark button in the upper-right corner of the Options dialog box), and then click the option that you want more information about.


-or-

  • Right-click the option that you want more information about, and then click What's This? on the shortcut menu that appears.


CAUSE

The English Word 6.0/95 documents option is available on the General tab when you turn on Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, or Korean for editing in the Microsoft Office Language Settings tool. The English Word 6.0/95 documents option is an undocumented setting in Word Help and is described in the "More Information" section of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

The English Word 6.0/95 documents setting is used when you open an English (United States) Word 6.0 for Windows document or Word for Windows 95 document that was created on a Chinese version of Microsoft Windows.

NOTE: If you open a Chinese (Simplified) or Chinese (Traditional) Word 6.0 for Windows document or Word for Windows 95 document in Chinese (Traditional) or Chinese (Simplified) enabled language Windows, the English Word 6.0/95 documents setting is not used.

If you have English (United States) enabled language support in Microsoft Windows, the English Word 6.0/95 documents setting defaults to Open normally when you start Microsoft Word.

If you have Chinese (Traditional) or Chinese (Simplified) enabled language support in Microsoft Windows, the English Word 6.0/95 documents setting defaults to Autodetect Asian text when you start Microsoft Word.
