SUMMARY
When using the Archive or AutoArchive features in Outlook, items do not archive as expected. This is because the date used to determine when an item will be archived depends on the type of item.
Item type | Archive Date |
---|---|
E-mail message | The sent or received date, whichever is later; or the last modification date/time. |
Appointment | The appointment date or the last modification date/time, whichever is later. |
Task | The completion date or the last modification date/time. Tasks that are not marked complete are not AutoArchived. Tasks assigned to others are archived only if marked complete. |
Note | The last modification date/time. |
Journal entry | The date the journal entry was created or the last modification date/time. |
Contact | Not archived. |
MORE INFORMATION
Each item has a "modified" field associated with it. It is not possible to view the modified field in some of the standard views, for example the Day/Week/Month Calendar view.
To view the modified field of any item, follow these steps:
- On the View menu, point to Current View and click By Category.
- On the View menu, click Field Chooser.
- In the Field Chooser dialog box, select "All Mail Fields" from the drop down list.
- Locate the "Modified" field and drag this field to the column heading. You will see two red arrows that will indicate where the column heading will be placed in the column header row.
The modified date/time for each item will now be visible.
