FIX: Wrong Link Provided to Install Visual Studio 6.0 Service Pack 4 from MSDN Web Site

SYMPTOMS

During the installation of the Processor Pack you receive the following error message:

The Processor Pack requires that you have already installed Microsoft Visual C++ version 6.0 with Service Pack 4. To download Service Pack 4, go to http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/sp/vs6sp4/default.asp.

When you select the included link, the following error message appears:

The file you requested could not be found.

CAUSE

The link provided in the error message is a bad link.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, see the readme file in Visual Studio Service Pack 4 for the correct link.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This bug was corrected in the latest service pack for Visual Studio 6.0.
