SYMPTOMS
When you compile a program in the Interix environment on one computer and then try to run it on another computer running Interix, you may receive the following error message
CAUSE
This issue can occur if the program was compiled by using a demonstration copy of the Interix software. The demonstration copy has a limited license, and because of this, it generates the error message.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use either of the following methods:
Method 1
Obtain and install a full version of Interix, and then relink the program.
Method 2
Use the Licensetool utility located in the /Interix/bin directory of the target computer. To use this utility, use the Licensetool -S product ID
command, where product ID
is a valid product identification.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
