SYMPTOMS

When you compile a program in the Interix environment on one computer and then try to run it on another computer running Interix, you may receive the following error message

Status 127: "This program was compiled in an opennt time limited development environment" "Invalid license key found in registry".

CAUSE

This issue can occur if the program was compiled by using a demonstration copy of the Interix software. The demonstration copy has a limited license, and because of this, it generates the error message.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use either of the following methods:

Method 1

Obtain and install a full version of Interix, and then relink the program.

Method 2

Use the Licensetool utility located in the /Interix/bin directory of the target computer. To use this utility, use the Licensetool -S product ID command, where product ID is a valid product identification.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
