SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to debug HTML applications (.hta files) from Visual InterDev, the debugger might not recognize the .hta file. The browser might also close, and debugging might shut down unexpectedly.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
This bug was corrected in Visual Studio 6.0 Service Pack 3.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior
- Add an .hta file to a Visual InterDev project.
- Set the .hta file to be the Start page.
- Choose Start from the menu or press F5.
- If you are prompted by Internet Explorer, select Open this file. The .hta application launches but does not appear in the list of processes to attach to for debugging. The browser might also close and shut down if that is the only application you are trying to attach to.
