CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you installed the Novell Client32 program, version 2.2.0 or earlier. This program installs an outdated version of the Vmlid.nlm file that can interfere with Standby mode.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, use either of the following methods:

Method 1

Contact Novell to obtain the 952201.exe patch.

Method 2

Use the System File Checker tool to extract an updated version of the Vmlid.nlm file from your original Windows 98 disks or CD-ROM to the Novell\Client32 folder. MORE INFORMATION

Windows 98 includes the latest version of the Vmlid.nlm file. If you upgrade Windows 95 with the Novell Client32 program to Windows 98, the Vmlid.nlm file is updated. However, if you install Novell Client32 after you install Windows 98, the earlier version of the Vmlid.nlm file is used.
