SYMPTOMSWhen Microsoft Windows Object Packager has been used to insert a Microsoft Excel workbook in a Microsoft Word document, double-clicking the embedded icon may not open the workbook in Microsoft Excel. CAUSEIn object linking and embedding (OLE) version 1.0, there no file type for Microsoft Excel workbooks. Therefore, double-clicking the icon opens and closes Microsoft Excel without displaying the workbook. RESOLUTIONIn File Manager, do the following to create an association for the Microsoft Excel 4.0 workbook file format:
