SYMPTOMS
When you run the Microsoft Host Integration Server OLE DB Provider for DB2 from inside Microsoft SQL Server, memory for the SQL process may continue to grow until no more memory can be allocated.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
This problem was corrected in Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000 Service Pack 2.

The memory leaks when some schema queries fail within SQL Server and then the OLE DB Provider for DB2 does not free memory. If the memory grows to the point that no more memory is available to be allocated, the OLE DB Provider for DB2 will terminate the SQL process unless you have applied hotfix 872770.
