SYMPTOMS
You may use the Microsoft Host Integration Server OLE DB Provider from inside Microsoft SQL Server. If the OLE DB provider must allocate memory but it cannot find any memory to allocate, the OLE DB Provider will end the SQL Server process. You do not receive an error message from the OLE DB provider when this problem occurs.

This problem has been observed when a linked server was used within the SQL process.
After you apply this hotfix, the OLE DB provider will not end the process if memory cannot be allocated. Instead, you will receive the following error message:
