SYMPTOMS
When attempting to replay a trace captured with SQL Profiler that contains prepared cursor statements (sp_cursorprepare), the following error may occur:
This error occurs when the query is submitted as a parameterized query, but no parameter markers are actually supplied, resulting in the second parameter value being NULL.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server 7.0. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 2 for Microsoft SQL Server 7.0. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Beginning in SQL Server 7.0 Service Pack 2, SQL Server accepts NULL as a valid second parameter to sp_cursorprepare and does not generate an error in this situation.
