Re: first windows 8 screenshot ???
looks like a custom theme to me
my vote is for FAKE UI changes viable to the outside are very very unlikely at this point
build tag is a dead give away too and the date lends NO credit
btw where did you find this? what site

Re: first windows 8 screenshot ???
"For Making Better Windows" Hehe.
Also the Brothersoft watermark, that site has always been dodgy.
Also the start orb is the Windows live orb, and it's unlikely there'd be major UI changes this early.
At best, it's a crappy custom theme.

Re: first windows 8 screenshot ???
I agree it looks fake. It would come from more credible sites if it weren't and that ui looks kinda budget and I think at the start they would be more concerned with implanting features / background code.

Might wanna put [FAKE] in your title, just so this thread doesn't disintegrate into fighting about its authenticity

Re: first windows 8 screenshot ???
might very well be fake, but its a have some interesting idears, such as:
* More than one small icon stacked in the taskbar
* Startmenu looks kinda nice
* Interesting that its the Windows Live Logo that have been used, i guess the maker wanted people to believe in a tigther integration between windows and its live services.
* Nice wall paper, that one i wouldent mind getting my hands on..

Plus, I'm sure that build 72xx would look exactly like windows 7 anyway.

It'd look like RTM escrow.effy11 wrote:Plus, I'm sure that build 72xx would look exactly like windows 7 anyway.
Doesn't anyone know that the build number (e.g. 2600, 6000, 7600) always moved forwards? It doesn't go backwards even if you change Nt[Major/Minor]Version. And 6.2? That'd be Windows Server 2008 R3

I got Windows 7 games to work in Server 08 R2. Used Rafael's method.

Re: first windows 8 screenshot ???
Could be the image was made before Windows 7 RTM'd and some people thought the RTM would be 7200.

Still, as Windows "8" will be a major release, it oughta be in the format of 7.0.7230.*-*

Re: first windows 8 screenshot ???
it doesn't look real.
Re: first windows 8 screenshot ???
According to the date, that's 4 months before 7 RTMed
Besides all the other points, who the hell would install CS2 on Win 8?? LOL

Re: first windows 8 screenshot ???
I think the build gives it away as fake.
Why would an official microsoft build say "For making better windows". Also why would the build number be less than 7600? And if Microsoft follows the patterns they have before, windows 8 will have an nt version of 7.0

Re: first windows 8 screenshot ???
allright.. we have analyzed why its a fake, and it without doubt is.. but just for the fun of it.. (and think extremely much outside the box) .. what could lead us to believe that its real ? (yes, we are thinking extremely much outside the box) .. but say that some "person" at M$ leaked a picture to see what kind of response would come back.. then.. what do we think ?
Re: first windows 8 screenshot ???
I'd think that for a Microsoft employee this person has very odd tastes in software.
/Waits for some silly person to respond to my post without having read Leons post and hence, not understanding my post's proper context and connotations.
ADD: I'd wonder why Microsoft is raping what is, more or less, a fairly likeable UI/theme.

I think that this concept video would impress me a lot more IF it actually came from MS.

Re: first windows 8 screenshot ???
This early in the game, Windows 8 would look almost like Windows 7. Remember Windows 7 build 6519. It is very difficult to distinguish it from Windows Vista.
