Revision as of 14:14, 24 August 2014
This build is not much different from Build 4008, although by this point, virtually all references to Windows XP had been removed, including the old boot screen, which was now replaced by the actual Longhorn boot screen.
The copy of this build that is widely available has a corrupt INSTALL.WIM, and as such, will not install properly, due to the damaged portion being the WinPE (Windows Preinstallation Environment).
Features
DCE- can be enabled with command rundll32 uxdesk.dll,DCEStart. A DirectX 8 graphics card is required or DCE will crash. WinFS- is composed of some services e.g. Windows Future Storage , Windows File Promotion Manager.
Bugs
The icons in explorer.exe go 'fuzzy' when you click them. Some devices aren't installed by default, including the processor, but can be fixed by installing them manually.
