SYMPTOMS
When using a Trident 1024 x 768 256-color video driver dated before 2/3/93 with Works for Windows and Windows 3.1, you may receive the following error message:
CAUSE
This error message occurs in the following situations:
- When opening a spreadsheet file in Works
- When opening a database file in Works
WORKAROUND
Use the standard VGA or SuperVGA video driver that is supplied with Windows 3.1.
MORE INFORMATION
The driver can be identified in the DISPLAY.DRV= line in the [BOOT] section of the SYSTEM.INI file. This error may also occur when using other third-party Windows video drivers.
Trident has confirmed this to be a problem. You can receive updated drivers by calling Trident technical support at (415) 335-1179, or you can download drivers from Trident's bulletin board (BBS) at (415) 691-1016.
