APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Forefront Security for SharePoint

INTRODUCTION

This article describes a code change that is available to help you troubleshoot issues that you may experience if you use the Legacy Account option in Microsoft Forefront Security for SharePoint.

MORE INFORMATION

In Forefront Security for SharePoint, the LegacyScanAccount registry entry is logged only if you set diagnostics logging to Medium. However, diagnostics logging is configured only when you first start the Forefront Security for SharePoint services. Therefore, you may be unable to obtain the diagnostics logging information that you must have to troubleshoot a Legacy Account issue.

You can install the hotfix that is mentioned in this article to change the default logging behavior in Forefront Security for SharePoint. After you install the hotfix, the LegacyScanAccount registry entry is logged by default. Therefore, when you use the Legacy Account in Forefront Security for SharePoint, log entries are written to the ProgramLog.txt file. By default, this file is located in the following folder:

%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Forefront Security\SharePoint

How to obtain the hotfix

This issue is fixed in the Forefront Security for SharePoint SP1 Rollup 1 Hotfix Package that was released on December 20, 2007. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
