SYMPTOMS

In Windows Server 2008, you try to access the performance counters through either of the following Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) classes:

  • Win32_PerfRawData_NTDS_NTDS
  • Win32_PerfFormattedData_NTDS_NTDS

Then, you receive the following error message:

WBEM_E_INVALID_CLASS

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the WMI classes that are mentioned in the "Symptoms" section are not available in Windows Server 2008.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue in Windows Server 2008, use the following WMI classes:

  • Win32_PerfRawData_DirectoryServices_DirectoryServices
  • Win32_PerfFormattedData_DirectoryServices_DirectoryServices


STATUS

This behavior is by design.
