The Live Meeting 2007 client program stops responding when you play back a recording that requires a download

Article ID: 946097

Article Last Modified on 12/17/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2007

SYMPTOMS

You record a Live Meeting session, and then you save the recording to the Live Meeting service. When you use the Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2007 client program to download the recording and to play back the recording, the Live Meeting 2007 client program stops responding.

CAUSE

This problem is caused by the ClearTimeOut function in Windows Internet Explorer. When you play back a recording that is stored on the Live Meeting server, the Live Meeting 2007 client program uses the SetTimeOut function to schedule the download from the server. The Live Meeting 2007 client program uses the ClearTimeout function to stop the scheduled download and to start new download.

If the ClearTimeout function fails, the pre-downloader program does not receive any notification and continues to download the file one time or multiple times. Therefore, the Live Meeting 2007 client program stops responding.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, download and install the hotfix that is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

943085 Description of the Live Meeting 2007 client update package: December 17, 2007

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Live Meeting 2007 client program.
