APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 Enterprise Edition
  • Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 Standard Edition

SYMPTOMS

A computer that is running the Mediation Server role in Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 receives an invitation message from a private branch exchange (PBX) gateway or from a Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) gateway. If the invitation message has a field that contains a telephone number and an extension number, the Mediation Server treats the field as an error. Then, the Mediation Server replaces the telephone number and the extension number with anonymous encoding. When this problem occurs, the caller identity information is lost in the invitation message.

RESOLUTION

This problem is fixed in the update package for Communications Server 2007 Mediation Server that is dated December 17, 2007.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

MORE INFORMATION

After you apply the update that is described in the "Resolution" section, the invitation message is forwarded from the gateway leg of the Mediation Server to the enterprise leg of the Mediation Server.

Note The invitation message refers to the message that has a field that contains a telephone number and an extension number.

An example of the problem that is described in the "Symptoms" section can be experienced when the FROM field of the invitation message contains the following telephone uniform resource identifier (URI):

tel: +155511234567;ext=34567

Note The URI is described in section 19.1.6: Relating SIP URIs and tel URLs in RFC 3261 (SIP: Session Initiation Protocol).
