INTRODUCTION

In Groove Hosted Services 3.1 or in Groove Management Server 3.1, the server creates a user account backup at the time that an account is activated. However, a user account backup is not created at the time that a hosted Groove Virtual Office 3.1 user account is migrated to a Microsoft Office Groove Enterprise Services domain. Instead, the backup occurs at the end of the configured backup interval.

Additionally, the backup interval is always 30 days in a Groove Hosted Services domain or in a Groove Enterprise Services domain. Therefore, the interval between automated backups can be up to 60 days in a hosted environment. Data may be lost if a hardware failure occurs before an automated backup is created. To reduce the risk of data loss, manually create a user account backup after the user account is migrated to Groove 2007.

This article also describes how to manually back up a user account file.
