SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:

  • You are using a Windows Vista-based computer.
  • You connect a USB 2.0 device, such as a Bluetooth adapter, to an external USB 2.0 hub.
  • The external USB hub is attached to a USB 2.0-capable port.

In this scenario, if you plug another USB 2.0 device into any other USB 2.0 port on the computer, and then you remove it, the device that is attached to the external USB 2.0 hub may stop functioning. Or, the device that is attached to the external USB 2.0 hub may not start.

Note An example of another USB 2.0 device is a USB 2.0 memory key.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, disconnect and reconnect the USB 2.0 external hub. When you do this, the device will function correctly again.
