APPLIES TO
- Windows Internet Explorer 7
SYMPTOMS
You run the Internet Explorer Administration Kit 7 (IEAK 7) Customization Wizard to build a customized version of Internet Explorer 7. You move to the Additional Settings page of the IEAK 7 Customization Wizard. Then, you click a sub-category under a main category to display the settings. You do not intend to change the values of the sub-category. However, the values of these settings are added to the Internet Explorer 7 configuration files. This behavior may cause unwanted results after you finish running the IEAK 7 Customization Wizard.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, close the IEAK 7 Customization Wizard when you reach the Additional Settings page. When you close the wizard at this point, you avoid adding unintentional changes to the Internet Explorer 7 configuration files.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
MORE INFORMATION
The IEAK 7 Customization Wizard has an Additional Settings page that provides options for administrators to change additional settings for Internet Explorer. This Additional Settings page has several main categories that are displayed on the left side of the wizard, such as Control Management, Custom Settings, Corporate Restrictions, and so on. Each main category contains several sub-categories. When you click any sub-category, the settings for this sub-category are displayed on the right side of the Additional Settings page.
