Forefront Security for SharePoint removes offensive words from a document, but then it displays those offensive words in a user message

Article ID: 943442

Article Last Modified on 12/26/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Forefront Security for SharePoint

SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft Forefront Security for SharePoint to run a manual scan or a quick scan of a document that contains an offensive word, the document is not removed from the Document Library as expected. Additionally, you receive a "File Quarantined" message that states that the document has been updated because it contains an offensive word. However, the offensive word is visible to users in the message.

Note The offensive word can be any word that has been added to a "profanity" keyword list in Forefront Security for SharePoint. For example, assume that you use Forefront Security for SharePoint to quick-scan a document that contains the word "Jerk." The word "Jerk" is replaced by the following "File Quarantined" message in the document:

FILE QUARANTINED

Forefront for Sharepoint removed filename.txt since it was found to match the KEYWORD= profanity: Jerk; file filter.

Note This issue occurs only if an administrator disables a real-time scan job and then runs a manual scan or a quick scan.

WORKAROUND

To work round this problem, the administrator must install the 943221 rollup package. Then, the administrator can replace offensive words in the document so that these offensive words are not displayed.
