SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. On a Windows XP-based computer or on a Windows Server 2003-based computer, you configure settings for the Windows Error Reporting tool by using the Group Policy object (GPO) in the Active Directory directory service. The new settings do not appear on the computer's user interface. However, the GPO settings are applied correctly. Also, the Windows Error Reporting tool works as expected.

Note This problem does not occur on Windows Vista-based computers.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

MORE INFORMATION

To verify that the GPO settings are applied correctly, use one of the following methods.

Method 1

At a command prompt, type GPResult /z, and then press ENTER.

All the current GPOs are shown.

Method 2

Verify that the Windows Error Reporting tool dialog box appears. To do this, simulate an error. Then, check the error reporting by using Event Viewer.
