INTRODUCTION
The government of Brazil has announced a new time zone start date and end date for Brazil for the period of 2007 through 2008. The new time zone information is as follows:
- Daylight saving time starts October 14, 2007 (Second Sunday in October)
- Daylight saving time ends February 16, 2008 (Third Sunday in February)
Windows-based computers will not correctly interpret the time that is related to the transition to daylight saving time. The hotfix that is mentioned in this article addresses this time zone change. This hotfix updates the (GMT-3:00) Brasilia time zone and the (GMT-4:00) Manaus time zone to use the new time zone information for 2007 through 2008.

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Windows Server 2003 service pack that contains this hotfix.

Prerequisites
You must be running Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) to apply this hotfix.
Note We recommend that you install the August 2007 cumulative time zone update for Microsoft Windows operating systems (hotfix 933360) before you install this hotfix. Installing hotfix 933360 after this hotfix will reset the DST configuration for the Brazil time zones to a previous state.
Restart requirement
You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.
