SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:

  • In an application that is built on the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0, you use a class that implements the INotifyPropertyChanged interface.
  • You create a BindingList<class_name> object.


Note The placeholder class_name represents the name of the class that implements the INotifyPropertyChanged interface.

  • You serialize and then deserialize the BindingList<class_name> object.

In this scenario, you may receive a SerializationException exception.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing.
