Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release.
SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario:
- You configure SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services to run in the SharePoint integrated mode.
- You create a document library that has the Allow management of content types option enabled for a SharePoint Web site.
- You add the following content types to the content type list of the document library:
- Report Builder Model
- Report Builder Report
- Report Data source
- You create a SharePoint site page in the document library.
- You add both a Report Viewer Web part and a Document Library List Web part to the new SharePoint site page.
- You link the two Web parts by using the connection setting.
- You create a report that has a parameter.
- You select the report in the document list to display the report in Report Viewer.
When you specify a parameter other than the default parameter, and then you click Apply to use the new parameter to display the report, you receive the following error message:
CAUSE
This issue occurs because a NULL Reference exception occurs when you specify a parameter in a Report Viewer Web part if the Web part is linked to a Document Library List Web part.
RESOLUTION

Note Because the builds are cumulative, each new fix release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release. Microsoft recommends that you consider applying the most recent fix release that contains this hotfix. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 hotfixes are created for specific SQL Server service packs. You must apply a SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 hotfix to an installation of SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2. By default, any hotfix that is provided in a SQL Server service pack is included in the next SQL Server service pack.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
