The hotfix that is discussed in this article is not available for the Chinese version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM or for the Japanese version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
SYMPTOMS
You remove the Mail Merge privilege from a role in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0. However, a user who has the role can still run the Mail Merge function for the following entities:
- An account
- A contact
- A lead
Additionally, the user who has this role can unexpectedly run the Mail Merge function to send campaign activities after the user creates the campaign activities.
RESOLUTION
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 update rollup that contains this hotfix.

Installation information
Install this hotfix on computers that are running the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 server software or the Microsoft Dynamics CRM laptop client for Microsoft Office Outlook software.
Prerequisites
You must have Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 installed to apply this hotfix.
Restart requirement
If you are prompted to restart the computer, you must restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.
Removal information
To remove this hotfix from a computer that is running Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, or Windows 2000, use Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel. System administrators can use the Spuninst.exe tool to remove this hotfix from a computer that is running Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, or Windows 2000.
